What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a childbirth method that focuses on preparing parents for gentle birth. In the Hypnobirthing Australia™ Positive Birth Program classes, you will learn proven techniques in a well-thought-out program of deep relaxation, visualisation, and self-hypnosis. All of these are designed to help you achieve a more comfortable birth. Hypnobirthing encourages a calm, peaceful, and natural pregnancy, birth, and bonding experience for families.

When is the best time to attend classes?

You can begin Hypnobirthing Australia™ Positive Birth Program classes at any time, but we recommend that the optimal time to start is between 20 and 30 weeks. This will give you time to practice the self-hypnosis, relaxation and other effective techniques for gentle, easy birthing but also ensures that the Hypnobirthing Australia™ Positive Birth Program is still fresh in your mind. If you are outside of that range please don’t worry, you can definitely still attend and achieve a beautiful, calm birth.

How does Hypnobirthing work?

When a mother and her birth partner are able to approach their birth without fear, the birth experience can be positive and empowering.  This is displayed through knowledge, good support, and useful tools and techniques.
Throughout pregnancy we ensure that our mind and body is well looked after. Therefore by learning and practicing the Hypnobirthing Australia™ Positive Birth Program techniques when it comes time to birth we go into ‘automatic’ mode. Our mindset is positive, and this has a physiological effect on our body (i.e. we are not as likely to go into that ‘fight or flight response’).
